Who we are
This website and the Sink My Bricks! mailing list are run by Nikolai Egorov, a private individual, who is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected].
We apply the protections of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to all subscribers, wherever they live.
What we collect and why
Mailing list
When you subscribe, we store your email address. When you confirm the subscription via the link we send you, we also store the date, time and IP address of that confirmation as proof of your consent.
We use this data only to send you emails about major Sink My Bricks! milestones: the store page reveal, first playtests, the demo and the release. Four or five emails a year at most. If you also tick Xbox announcements or PlayStation announcements, we additionally email you about the game's version for that console: its announcement, dates, betas and release. We never sell or share your address for anyone else's marketing.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
If you don't confirm your subscription, your address is never mailed again and is deleted within 30 days.
Security logs
To protect the website against abuse, our server and our network provider (Cloudflare) process technical data such as IP addresses and browser information. This is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our own server logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Emails you send us
When you write to us, your email reaches our team's Gmail inboxes through Cloudflare, and a private Telegram bot shows the team its sender, subject and first lines. We use it only to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), keep it while the conversation needs it and delete it when you ask.
No tracking
This website uses no analytics and sets no tracking cookies. Our emails contain no tracking pixels and no click tracking. The anti-bot check on the signup form, Cloudflare Turnstile, starts only when you begin filling in the form and sets no cookies.
Who processes your data for us
- is*hosting (Astraform Limited, Hong Kong) provides the server in the Netherlands that stores the mailing list database. The data itself stays in the Netherlands.
- Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (Luxembourg) delivers our emails through Amazon Simple Email Service from its data centre in Sweden. To deliver each email it receives your email address and the content of the email; if a message bounces or you mark it as spam, it keeps a record that your address must not be mailed again.
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website, protects it and our server against attacks, forwards emails sent to our addresses and runs the anti-bot check on the signup form. For that check it briefly processes technical data about your browser and device; it does not see what you type into the form.
- Google LLC hosts our team's mailboxes (Gmail), where emails you send us are stored.
- Telegram delivers new-email notifications to our team.
Cloudflare, Amazon Web Services and Google belong to US groups, and our server host is based in Hong Kong. Where any of them accesses data from outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, for the United States, also by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Telegram, based in Dubai, receives only the new-email notifications described above.
How long we keep your data
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a record that the address must not be mailed again, unless you ask us to erase it completely.
Backups of our database are kept for up to six weeks, so data you ask us to erase also disappears from them within that time.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time. The subscription management page linked in every email lets you download or wipe your data yourself; you can also simply email us.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. We will not use your data for new purposes without asking for your consent first.
